What is Campus House?

Purdue Christian Campus House is a non-denominational church community in the heart of Purdue’s campus. While the majority of our church community is Purdue students, God has also brought a unique mix of young professionals, families, and retirees with a heart for this campus to Campus House. Our heart is to be a church that cares well for one another and orients our life together as a community for the sake of our campus, our city, and our world. We hope to come alongside you in your discipleship to Jesus and equip you to live for His Kingdom.

We long to see churches, homes, workplaces, communities, and prayer rooms worldwide filled with Boilermakers for whom God’s grace and truth are the impetus, motivation, and eternal reality of their lives.

Our Mission

To be a people of presence, belonging, healing, and equipping who are sent into the world with the grace and truth of Jesus.

We long to make God’s presence known on Purdue’s campus as a part of the Body of Christ throughout Greater Lafayette. From our geographic position in the center of campus, we are uniquely positioned to minister to the thousands of students, faculty, and staff who call Purdue home.

Within our context at a globally-recognized university, God has gifted us opportunities to learn from our sisters and brothers in the global Body of Christ, to be equipped to engage our neighbors with authenticity and care, and to serve our diverse campus in ways that point to Jesus.

Our beliefs

The foundation of our faith.

God

We believe that there is one true, holy God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of deity and characteristics of personality. In the beginning, God created (out of nothing) the world and everything in it, showing the glory of His power, wisdom, goodness, and sheer love. By His providence, He is operating throughout history to fulfill His redemptive purposes: showing mercy, hearing and answering prayer, and saving from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. God wants to be found, to be known, and to be loved. (Genesis 1-3; Matthew 3:16-17; John 16:23-27; Acts 17:27; Micah 6:8; Galatians 4:4-6; Ephesians 1:3,17-23)

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the second person of the triune (three-in-one) God. Everything was created through Him and for Him, yet He willingly “put on flesh and dwelt among us,” was born and grew up in a backwater town in Galilee, and launched His eternal Kingdom with a handful of outcasts. He demonstrated the way of His Kingdom throughout His life and ministry. Through His death and resurrection, He defeated sin and death, bringing redemption and salvation to all who would receive His grace. He ascended into heaven, yet is present with us, building His Church and Kingdom. The fulfillment of this restoration will come when He returns in glory to bring a new heaven and earth, fulfilling God’s eternal plan. The Holy Spirit

The third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, was sent into the world by the Father to continue the saving work of Christ. He is actively at work even before conversion, convicting people of their need for a Savior. At the point of salvation, He permanently indwells every believer to become the source of comfort, assurance, strength, and wisdom. The Spirit uniquely gives each believer gifts for the building up of the Church. He helps us understand and apply Scripture and reflect Jesus in every part of our lives and character, bearing fruit that brings glory to Jesus. (John 14:15-17, 25-26; 16:5-15; Acts 5:3-4; 1 Corinthians 12:4-13)

The Bible

Composed of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, we believe that Scripture, in its entirety, originated with God and that it was given through the instrument of chosen men. Scripture speaks with the authority of God and, at the same time, reflects the backgrounds, styles, and vocabularies of the human authors. We hold that the whole of Scripture has a redemptive arc which points to Jesus. This Bible is unique and infallible in that it is reliable and trustworthy to align us with the heart and will of God and equip us for being apprentices of Jesus. It is also one of the main ways God speaks and with which we commune with our heavenly Father. (Psalm 19:7; John 14:6; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-20)

The Church

Following Jesus, becoming His apprentice, means that we are also members of His body, the Church, a kind of family that embodies, demonstrates, and proclaims the way of Jesus and the whole of the Gospel. We incorporate rhythms of corporate worship, prayer, and the study of Scripture, as well as shared life together in community. We practice spiritual gifts to edify and build Christ’s Church and Kingdom and to bring Him glory by how we live, work, and love. As we become more multi-generational and ethnically diverse, we are becoming a fuller expression of Christ’s Body. As a family on mission, we seek to build bridges, do justice, extend hospitality, create beauty, and love others in ways that reflect Christ.
